This Saturday, 15th of November, marks ten years since I first opened the doors of Present Story.
A whole decade of gift-wrapping, chats at the counter, last-minute panics, thoughtful surprises, and the incredible local community
that has kept this little shop beating.
I’m writing now though with very sad news ....
Present Story will be closing in January, when my lease finishes.
This hasn’t been an easy decision. The truth is a mix of things — the realities of running a small retail business, and also a sense that it may be time for new challenges. I’m not leaping straight into anything yet; I’ll be taking a proper break in February and deciding what comes next after that.
What I do know is this: I want to say thank you.
To my wonderful community
Whether you dropped in for a card, or you’ve been popping by for years…
Whether you came for a present and left with a chat, or came for a chat and left with a present…
Whether you told your friends about us, sent people our way, or simply chose to shop local - thank you for supporting me over the past ten years.
Your kindness, humour, and generosity have been
the beating heart of Present Story.
A few practical bits
- We’ll be trading through Christmas as usual.

From early December we won’t be bringing in new stock, so if you’ve had your eye on something, now’s the time.

A closing-down sale will start after Christmas.

For now, I wanted you to hear this news directly from me, with honesty, gratitude, and a whole lot of love for the community that has made Present Story what it is.
